I think we're just frustrated at what they are doing. At least they could be honest about it.

As I posted above, I actually kind of understand what they are doing and I can make a case that while this pisses off many here, it can actually generate some nice publicity for potential NEW coin/bullion collectors.

    At least I hope so ! :D

He's not lying, he's just admitting without coming right out an saying so, that they don't have a clue how to do proper marketing

As long as you don't mind guaranteeing that EVERYTHING will sell in the aftermarket for LESS than the mint issue price. If you don't mind losing money on everything you buy from the Mint, it would be a great system.

In the real world - where failure has consequences - you would
    • Hire a marketing company to jumpstart your efforts
    • Hire an e-commerce solution provider to jumpstart and possibly run your website
    • Hire a fulfillment company to pack and ship your orders
Nobody at any scale thinks they're smart enough to do all these things well.

You might bring them in house after they're established, but nobody has the in house expertise do all these things well.

And you know that last one, the fulfillment company? The mint did hire one.

And in this whole series of fiascos we haven't heard a lot of complaints about shipping. Quality control? yes. But shipping no!

I don't see it that way, but that's just me, Mr. Vegas.

What I do see is the Mint offering various products, and for the first few years people will order more than wanted and prices will decline after market.

Then there will be an offering, and very few people will order it. The mintage will come out and people will lose their minds, and the issue nobody wanted will now be on everybody's list. Prices will rise tremendously.

    Lather, rinse, repeat.

But here's the thing, everyone gets what they want. Except of course the flippers (like those from the collectible shoe message board) who want to game the system, and make a quick buck off of the collectors.

It's ok to buy from the mint.... just go there on a limited basis. Moderation. Sometimes something will come up that you want but won't want to pay aftermarket prices to acquire.
I saw the 2021 product schedule is out. It looks like it will be the year of the ASE/AGE. So much material. Wonder where they'll squeeze in the 21 Morgan and Peace dollars if Congress can get something passed?
