Circulated 2019 nickel with definite minting error! You can see the hair going into the cone that shouldn't be on the nickel at all.
Thanks dear. The Pics are unusual to say the least . I'm calling on @paddyman98 for this one . Good Luck.
Can you get closer, especially the reverse ? Try a program called " Photoscape" (FREE download) . It edits. Crops , adjust lighting etc....
Before you say that it is a "definite minting error", you have to ask yourself, "How could this have occurred at the Mint?" Let's assume that it got stuck in the coining chamber and was struck a second time. If that were the case, wouldn't you expect to see an arc of the second strike facing inward rather than outward? And, shouldn't that arc be a "polar opposite", in other words, at the 4 o'clock position instead of the 10 o'clock position? These are just a couple of the things that you have to ask yourself before you conclude that it is a "definite mint error". There are far more ways that a coin can be damaged while in circulation, whether intentional or not. We have to weigh the odds and come to the most logical conclusion. In this case, I agree with Mr. P. It is post-mint damage.
