Exceptional top "10" Roman Collector My fav. is #10. Beautifull coins/ all. Wish you a great 2021.... John
Great list, RC! My favorite is #7. Delphi is one of the best historical sites I've been to, so I loved seeing the Pythian games represented on a coin...one of these types is definitely high on my want list. I also really like your big Gordian provincial from Pisidia (#6), and I'm happy you were able to add some nice Faustina rarities this year as well.
@Roman Collector Fantastic coins. I've become intrigued with coins featuring Mên as well, so I really like your Gordian from Pisidia. Standouts for me are the wolf and boar river type, and the Eastern coin of Julia Domna, and of course the very rare coins you've done research on ... so pretty much your whole list!
Excellent write ups and great coins... I especially love the "animals symbolizing the two rivers in the city"... awesome reverse - very cool!
Great coins. I am not really into Roman coinage, but I always liked the coins featuring the various 'Julias' and their fancy haircuts, so my choice is coin #1.
Congrats on a great year of collecting @Roman Collector !!! My personal favourites are the AE from Troas and the denarii of Faustina Sr.
Congratulations, @Roman Collector, it's a wonderful group. I think #'s 4, 5, 8, and 10 (the Faustina II, the owl, the boar & wolf, and the very unusual-looking Julia Domna) are my favorites. And thank you so much for your generosity in giving me the benefit of your immense knowledge concerning Roman coins in the time I've been here. You've been incredibly helpful to me.
Nice little write-ups for each entry. I would pick #9 and #10 as my favourites, but they all have something to commend them!
I like the small Troas Æ and the three empresses #10, #4, #2 and #1 , also thanks for all educative threads you posted !
@Roman Collector Wonderful presentation of your top 10 of 2020 - enjoyed it very much My favorites: # 8 and # 7 - never saw a representation of the rivers Caprus and Lycus as animals, and of course I didn't know that these rivers existed, and the tripod of #7 is just perfect - always learning something new through your posts. A big thank you!
Nice group of coins! The Laodicea ad Lycum is an interesting type rather than reclining Gods representing their rivers. Also like the Sigeion and the Apamea that I got side tracked on and forgot to bid!
Congrats on the good year, RC, and thank you for being such a prolific and generous source of quality CT content! #3, the Faustina II Apamea with Venus on dolphin, is my favorite (love love love it!). Great detective work on that too . #8 (Philip II, Phyrgia) also gets a big thumbs up even though the engraver apparently had no idea what a boar looks like . Or maybe because the engraver didn't know...
