Hey everyone, Just thought I'd share my first Tauler & Fau win. It is a miliarense of Constantius II. I'm very excited about it because I've been looking for this type for about a year and a half. Over the past year, I've seen decent examples from the Constantinople mint pop up (at a dealer and in auctions), but I've been holding out for one from Thessalonica because I prefer the style of this mint. So far, I've passed up a few examples from Thessalonica because they were either a lower grade, or had other sorts of problems. I did not think I would win today's example....but I did!!!! Could anyone fill me in on what to expect when shipping from Spain? I understand that there is a 4-6 week wait process where an export license must be granted from the cultural property office. Am I required to fill out any sort of form? Also, I'm hoping Tauler offers shipping via Fedex. Thanks for your help! Anyways, here it is! As always, share anything you feel is relevant.
I won a coin in the 3 November Tauler & Fau auction and received it exactly 2 weeks later. I'm in the UK, so it didn't have so far to travel, but there was no paperwork or delay. Getting coins from the US is a much longer wait, although it can't be the distance, as anything from Canada arrives very quickly. Mithridates III silver drachm, 87-80BC, Ekbatana (Sellwood 31).
I'm in Canada, so I'm assuming it would take a little longer. Usually with Switzerland or UK via Fedex it takes 1-2 weeks when customs is accounted for. But I don't think these countries require export licenses.
Wonderful miliarense! My two experiences with Tauler & Fau have been excellent... but I do recall shipping to seem to take a while Here's my Constantius II siliqua with a free hole thrown in:
