I'm guessing the release date has something to do with the 75th anniversary of pearl harbor. 20201121_213455.jpg 20201121_213515.jpg

Well 5 oz of silver melt value is $120-$150 but it's the u.s mint so expect it to be overpriced/I ment to put $229 not $300

There are other 5oz Prairie grass bullion coins out now ,but they don't have the mint mark. They are less expensive. Looks just the same just without the MM. You can get the Bullion coin right now for about $150 .

There’s a slightly different finish on the bullion ones

Well, for a "water vapor and ceramic media mix" coating, it's totally worth it.

I was just thinking for a December 7th release date, you would think they would issues something more specific to the date.
This is if they have any idea what might have occurred on that date.
Then again I wonder how many on CT know?

dwhiz, I know and will honor the date. I don't think the mint had a clue about the significance of the date, this coin has nothing to do with Pearl Harbor.

They know the date but it isn't relevant to the release. They picked a Monday in early December so they can ship orders that week. There's not going to be any rush or sell out

It's not the 75th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor. That was in 2016.

I don't think this has anything to do with WW2. December 7th is a Monday, that's likely why it is being issued on that date.

It's the 79th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor - Not exactly a "special" anniversary.

I see no reason why the US Mint should be restricted from releasing anything they want to on Monday, 7 Dec 2020. I think it's fine for special coins to be issued on meaningful dates, but I don't think the converse should be implied. That is, just because the US Mint is issuing something on an historically meaningful date does not mean that item needs to be associated with that historically meaningful event.
