The 1849 California Counter Tokens are plentiful, different dies were used for these and there's a very rare one that I own. Unfortunately, mine isn't in very good condition but the ones that are, sell for hundreds of dollars. The Indian Wanamaker Token is from 1895 and is Charles Alexander aka: OhiYesa, that's him on the Token! He was a doctor, a writer and lecturer and got his education from Boston University. He was a Sioux Indian and he was quite a remarkable man. His books are still being sold today!
Nice tokens! I have the same one yours is the only other I have seen here on CT. Much better surfaces than mine.
I don't normally collect foreign Tokens at all but the third Token down caught my eye with the intricate detailed Owl and the patina. Some kind of 1909 German Festival in Cincinnati, is all I know.
Here's more, this Token was given out at the 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco and it's super rare. Cawston Ostrich Farm closed in 1935, still a historical spot! Third one down is a Kettle Token, my best one and it's signed. Next one is a Wide Awakes Token from 1860!
The second one down is rare and the two at the bottom are also rare. Rare doesn't always translate into profits tho', wish it did!
My favorite and the most rare in this group is the 1876 Spinner Medal. I think it's from the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exposition but I don't have proof, just a simple deduction!
I have a ton of Tokens as I've been collecting heavily for a long, long time. I gotta start selling soon as I have too many.
The last two days I've posted some of my Tokens and I just wanted to let y'all know that all are currently in my collection except for around 3 that I sold and I have many more. Too many, my point is collecting coins, Tokens and Medals is highly addicting for people like me. Here's another one I got today and it's in mint condition so I'm very happy being it's likely from the late 1920's! The color is actually gold as it's made of brass! Skull & crossbones, hard to find, 31.5mm, just a tad bigger than a half dollar!
Here's another Kill the Jinx Token and a rare 1837 C.D. Peacock Jeweler Token! My Grandfather got me hooked on Tokens in the early 1960's as he worked in a laundromat and he would run across Tokens cleaning the washing machine traps. Unfortunately, the ones I got from him were all stolen in the early 1990's, I was beyond angry but after 10-15 years I started collecting again. Just sharing that there's a method to my madness!
Okay, here's a Token that was in very high demand when I first saw it on ebay last year sometime. May have been even longer, idk. Anyways, someone won it and decided to flip it and it's been for sale for quite awhile. I want one just for fun but I'm not about to pay the asking price at all!! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bahamas-Na...973758?hash=item4d9908d17e:g:kH8AAOSwpUVdPf4C
I wonder if that token would benefit from some verdicare. Haven't tried it yet. Neat token but for that price he can keep it.
Yeah, I'm sure it would look great after a workout with verdicare! Verdicare has helped me out plenty!
