    Yes, the available information is on the vague side. Despite this being an archeological magazine and website. Does anyone have better info on this?
    ...It was interesting that the article (/stub thereof) characterized the Abbasids as Sunni, and the Fatimids as Shia. Impressionistically, it evoked the shifting agendas of, oh, I don't know, political parties over time. Vaguely along the lines of revisionism becoming the new fundamentalism.

    I've seen a lot about these coins in the Israeli press, and my (largely non-numismatic) thoughts about this discovery are related to how well the Israel Antiquities Authority treats these finds and how flowing the relationship between them, the media, the public and the collecting world is.
