You feel that way after reviewing all of the new pictures, as well?

 

If @Lehigh96 and @John Burgess say it's DDO-001 then that's good enough for me. It's your money so I'm not saying what you should do.

 

The most recent pictures showing the die crack between R and T have me totally convinced. This is something I would roll the dice on.

Nice work on the part of @John Burgess digging up that info. I learned something here.

 

Yeah. I saw the die gouge between R and T but couldn't find reference to it as a marker or identifier until yesterday anywhere. I am by no means a professional, i am a hobbyist but it looks right by everything I can find to verify it by. I might want it cheaper if possible due to it not being attributed and graded already so as not to lose on it just in case it comes back lower than MS64 but I'd personally be confident it is what it is at this point.

Figuring the grading fee, shipping, attribution fee, it must add another $40 to it and that's right around where Ive seen them sell for graded at MS64 in auction histories, but they also sold higher, I always go with the lowest because I'm pessimistic so I'm not disappointed.

I see the steps are visible left and right. The center of the steps seem to be worn or was not struck due to the wearing to the die. Good looking coin.

 

Thanks everyone. Actually talked the seller into $75 and and it's on the way. I'll add it to my next PCGS submission (which may be a few months down the road), but will definitely post back here when I get it back.

 

I wanted to also post up PCGS comparisons of this variety from their site. Not sure how well this goes over as far as sizing though, but it is a Doubled Die, so there is going to be visual differences that are on it that aren't on non-doubled die coins and I think there is a bit more leniency for die condition and softness of strike considering the doubling which is part of the attribute. Below is a MS65 and A MS 66 of this variety, The last picture there is a MS63, but it clearly looks much worse than brokrken's coin. I think it has a shot at 65 still really.



yeah it didn't quite work out as I had hoped the pictures would, too small still, but you can easily look up the variety and pictures on their site if you choose to.
I think his strike is sharper than the example MS65, But weaker in the ponytail area than the MS66 example. except for the hit on the stairs, his coin has fuller steps than either example does, not that it means much, but his reverse stairs are absolutely nicer in my opinion.

I am looking forward to you returning with a picture after it's graded!

After looking at your specimen and using the best of Jefferson nickels doubled die varieties yes it is the wddo 001 the die markers esspecially the die gouge linking the RT in Liberty as well doubling shown date and other wise it is spot on for the variety.
This reference is a must for Jefferson varieties. It has paid for its self hundreds of times.
