Well what do you expect, he got it his way after all. Hmmm, I think I'd better check and see if my change jug is still on the counter. I actually have a jug of change I throw loose coins in and I KNOW there are large cents, indian head cents, wheat cents, two cent pieces, three cent nickels, shield, liberty, bufflos, half dimes and some other seated material in there because I know I tossed them in there.
Just last week, a friend of mine received an 1893 Indian head cent in change at a hardware store. Probably only G4 with some slight damage, but still a neat find. Over the years, I have received two blank planchets in change, a cent and a nickel, both from the same Burger King about 5 years apart. If it wasn't about 100 miles from my place, I would probably have stopped there more often! When my daughter worked at the Dairy Queen, she took in a fair amount of 20th century silver, perhaps $2 worth per week on average, and that was just a few years ago.
My daughter works at Sears and found a buffalo nickel in her till and got it out to give me. Turns out to be a 1913 type 1 in good condition. It is my favorite coin because she found it tought enough of dad to get it and bring it to me!
Nice thread. i picked up 10 or 12 rolls of Lincolns a week ago and plucked out 31 Canadian pennies dated 1932-1962, a netherlands cent and a 1919 wheatie.
