Coins where the Ruler's true appearance in way off!

    I will start off with a classic....

    AV 8 Escudos 1809- Lima Mint
    Fernando VII 1808-33

    At the Colonial Mint in Lima/Peru, mint officals had no clue on what the new Spanish King looked like. They where used to portraying the previous King/ Carlos IV who died in 1808. However, that same year Napoleon invaded Spain and put his brother Joseph on the Spanish throne. With the Napoleonic Wars, Peru was isolated.
