I know there is no set price for a coin like this, I've been looking around the inter net, for similar coins and can't find any, except for ones that the hole was struck off center. This one should have a hole in the center but doesn't making it an error coin. I have no idea what it is worth. Could any of you please give me an educated guess, of the value, or even a wild guess. Thanks in advance.
HandsomeToad, thanks for the feedback. I can assure you the coin is not plugged. It is an error coin. I've taken some more pics, it's not really easy to see unless you have coin in hand. Thanks for any and all input on this.
Take a macro shot of the hole area on the reverse. I see a jagged edge inside the circle, that sure looks like a plug. :kewl: Ribbit
Thats about the best, macro I can take with my cam. I do agree that it does look fishy, in the pic, and yes there is a ridge there. I still think it had something to do with the strike plus the center should have been punched out anyway, so it wouldn't have to be perfect in the center. When looked at through a jewelers loop, it doesn't look toyed with. I could be wrong, but I don't even think it would be possible to plug so cleanly. It's a very small hole. I also didn't pay very much for it, less than US 50 cents, I don't see any one going to that kind of trouble, for no return. Like I said I could be wrong. Please would more of you give an opinion on this coin. If an error coin like this would be worth anything, I would send it to experts for varification. Thanks for the interest and help.
Hi Dobermann. Your coin was minted from 1955 to 1963 it is bronze and it was minted with a hole in it #KM 2 . And if it were a MS-60 grade it would be worth $3.00 I would say that the hole has been filled, however that is only my opinion I hope the info has helped. Bruce.
Thanks Bruce, yes that info helped. Do you know where I could send the coin to have it, checked, to see if the coin is a mint error, or if the hole was filled, and get a certificate proving it wasn't filled, if that is the case ? Thanks again.
No I don't, and if you send it off to be certificated and it is not an error your out twenty to thirty dollars. Post your question here in our world coins forum there are a lot of collectors here who know a lot more about foreign coin then I do . Good luck and keep us posted on how it comes out.
