I will be at work then. Perhaps I will try and jump on like I did the other week with the V75. This time though, I will try for the gold and flip that sucker as fast as possible. I've got 3 kids and a wife to worry about for Christmas lol.
I'll be going for a gold reverse proof and the medal/coin silver set, for my collection. Will not flip. Trying to temper expectations as I think people will crash the site again but there won't be as much time to get through it because the mintages are so low. I wish the releases would have been staggered. Four different products with different groups of people all vying for them at the same moment probably means most won't get anything again.
So, for the reverse proof, the header says "Mintage limit: 5,000", but the description says "Only 10,000 of these coins will be minted." Which is it? I don't think I'm in. I'm not crazy about the subject, I'm not crazy about the design (the child's standing on the shore and climbing up into the water?), I don't think much of reverse proofs -- and at 50% over spot, I'm not sure the Mint is leaving much meat for flippers.
I've e-mailed them and called them four times to try to understand the mintage proclamations on RP. No response to e-mail. Got through on 1 of 4 phone calls. Sat on hold for 20 minutes. Got disconnected with no answer and was asked to take a survey. That was on a regular day with nothing going on. So I never got an answer. They only possible explanation would be if the Royal Mint got the other 5k to sell but I haven't heard anybody verify that and do not know. As far as the design, the Native American child is stepping on the border edge and is supposed to signify the two worlds meeting with the arrival of the ship. I think it will look great in RP.
Success. Got both by 9:03 a.m. Site was lagging a little but nothing like last time. I'm happy. Only got kicked out twice entering info.
Interesting - I got an e-mail at 8 am notifying me product was available from the Royal Mint. Navigated there and had no trouble selecting product and going to the checkout. Logged on to usmint.gov at 9 am and had no trouble loading up on products there. Since I have no interest in owning any of these coins, I didn't bother buying them but it was easy-peasy.
Picked up all 4 items with no problem. Ordered the gold and silver 2 coin sets first within the first minute then saw the reverse gold and silver coins still available and ordered them a few minutes later. Mint site worked great.
Wow. They are still available almost 20 minutes later. That doesn't bode well for the flippers. I decided not to pick it up. 1/2oz og gold for 2x spot? Naw.
In and out by 9:03. Either these sets ain't as popular as folks thought, or everyone is still asleep in California.
Lol was wondering the same. Think half the country isn't up yet or is at work unable to buy them. Since it was working so smoothly I went back and picked up the reverse proof silver too. Might not have got the hype and publicity of the V75s.
