    It's always been my observation that doubling on incluse lettering tends to make the lettering narrower. I believe what you're seeing is MD.

    Welcome to CT @Rose collecter @Rose collector not sure which one you are but appears you have two accounts with different spellings. You should ask a moderator to fix it for you. If the second one isn't you, you should ask them to change your member name to lessen confusion.

    Remember this is incuse lettering...and as such, the “blister” areas that remain are the low part of the die. Conversely, the G, being the high surface area, obliterated that part of the blister on the planchet during the strike...imo...Spark
