Has anyone purchased coins from this eBay seller? Some yellow flags

While wandering around eBay today, I came across this seller, who lists coins as coming from Austria. Based on the profile this seller is based in Bulgaria.

I never purchased anything from this seller, and never will, but this coins listed, plus the Bulgarian connection, raises yellow flags, and if this seller is not on the eBay sellers to avoid, he or she probably should be.

    Here are some links:

    Here's the seller's profile:

    Dubious feedback, in my opinion:

    Thanks.

It looks like he's been at it for a while.

It also looks as if the fakers are improving their techniques in producing more and more deceptive counterfeits, at least for the uninitiated.

If you look through eBay on a regular basis, you will start seeing some of the same fakes over and over again. The person you can see in his feedback, tpsngallery, is also a fake seller-- maybe affiliated.

That's true for CT members and experienced collectors, but I think new collectors and people uninformed about fakes could fall prey, giving the hobby a bad reputation.

This problem has plagued coin collectors and the field of numismatics for literally ages.

  8. Looks like one of his regular "bidders" sells fakes themselves and has dubious excellent feedback as well.

When you look at his other items you can see the exact same RARE coin in several listings.

One of the dark sides of human nature, and quite depressing.

I don't do Greek coins but i immediately knew that coin was fake. Unfortunate he has been around so long.

Yes, and the kicker is that eBay rates this seller, to quote, from the profile:
    • "One of eBay's most reputable sellers."
    • "Consistently delivers outstanding customer service."
eBay really doesn't care if sellers like this one are bilking the public, just as long as eBay's bottom line remains healthy.
