I have a question about EBay and coins......I have tried to do my own due diligence and what not, but, is this a bad market to look for coins and collections/lots? Everything I read is negative?

Collections and lots I would stay away from. Far Far away.

Slabbed and loose coins are ok if you don't mind paying close to market price for a coin you want.

I've found some good deals on eBay, but you have to look around a lot. Also, play it safe and knock down the listed coin grade by at least a few points and then decide how much you would want to pay. Not that all sellers are dishonest, but are probably not very skilled at grading.

Ebay can be great if you are very knowledgeable about what you are bidding on - but if you're not - it's a jungle and they take no prisoners. Even when buying coins slabbed by NGC & PCGS - you still have to know what fair market value is or you can end up paying WAY too much.

By the way - you won't find fair market value prices in ANY of the coin guides with the possible exception of the Grey Sheet.
