My wife likes dolphins and shes into spending my rockstar money but shes not into coins like I am...i got enough to set our kids up nice in the end days but if I get her this coin she will be happy and so will I..lol. so what would you bid?...
...for a gift, i concur with cmp9ball on a coin...otherwise, you'd just be getting it for yourself...since she's not into coins as you are......maybe an ancient dolphin shaped coin?...less expensive i would assume.
Maybe do some research as to what this type has sold for in previous auctions... look at your budget and see what makes sense for you - or just say screw it and bid ONE MILLION DOLLARS!!! Let us know how it goes... we're rooting for you!!!
Or try one of these: Olbia. Bronze cast dolphin money. 5th cent BC. (generic internet pic; I don't have pictures of mine) Quite cheap and easy to come by. They don't even look like coins, so you might convince your wife it's just a dolphin Best of both worlds

Considering this is from someone making a first post here, this may be closer than my guess of a bit under half that. I'd pay $100 but I am a cheapskate and not interested enough in the coin to pay a fancy auction price. There are many ancient dolphin coins. I would suggest you ask a trusted dealer what he has or can get for you. You would need to straight explaining what you want in terms of price, size, grade AND be willing to pay just a bit more than you might want. Auctions are funny. Sometimes you will bid $200 on a coin that should bring $100 but lose to someone who bid $500 because they have more money than they need and want the coin more than the money. Other times no one wants the coin and it can go for the start bid. Bid what the coin is worth to you and hope derkerlegand does not bid $500.
Thanks for the replys...the main things were silver and dolphin, that coin might be alittle high for me, when I think I could get 2 or more of something similar. Shes hasnt seen the coin yet so there is no attachment. Although the money isnt a issue as making her happy,
