This trade dollar has a very weird look to it, it has a weak strike but lots of details, also the wear between the observe and reverse dont really match. Anyone know whats going on with this piece? is it a strikethru? https://www.ebay.com/itm/1875-S-US-SILVER-TRADE-DOLLAR/133576217454?hash=item1f19c3536e:g:vngAAOSwnstfr-UV
The distant and out of focus pictures tell me the seller is trying to hide something. I can’t make it out well enough to render any sort of meaningful information.
Looks fake to me. mushy details, rims too fat in areas, poorly formed dentils, bloated looking numbers and letters. A real mess and pretty much a compendium of just about every problem you will see on a fake trade dollar.
The seller is in Canada and they have 100% feedback. The photos are out of focus and the seller's similarities of other coins are not. That leads me to ask, why? Is the seller trying to hide something? The price for a Trade Dollar is very low. Again why? I also noticed that this Trade Dollar is soft and mushy on the details and that strikes me as odd. Then, it's slightly off Centered and I don't ever recall seeing a Trade Dollar struck off center. Bottom line-I'd pass without giving this coin a second thought.
