 Krause does not list a gold coin for the Republic of China in the First Republic Year (1912)..

The earliest gold coin listed is Y#330, dated Republic Year 8 (1919), with a left-facing bust which is described as "Ruler Hung-Hsien", but looks just like Yuan Shih-Kai.

The earliest Sun Yat Sen coin listed is Y#344, a Year 21 (1932) silver Yuan. There are no gold or brass Sun Yat Sen coins listed, although there are several copper and cu-ni minors listed with dates in the Republic 20s (1930s).

Question, could it be a gold plated one?

really? Krause does not have it listed? This is a real gold coin, not plated according to my chinese reference book, This is the first gold coin of the Republic era, it was issued on Jan, 1, 1912, weight at 13.3 grams. (there are several gold coin issued before - during the Ching dynasty). According to the chinese reference book, it was stop from minting after Yuan Shih-Kai took control of the government. Thus, came the second gold coin of the republic era, with Yuan Shih-Kai on one side and a flying dragon on the other side. Roy mentioned Y#330, that one came much later during the eighth year of the republic.
how odd, Krause does not have it listed, what about Kann, does anyone have a Kann's catelog on chinese coinage can give me some help? thankss

Krause is far from perfect or complete, but it's pretty much the only game in town for general purposes. I'm sure there are specialized references listing your coin.
