11/15/2020 I found a 1942 Mercury Dime and put it with an old lead or pewter toy I found.. Looks like.. Mercury Running Hermes/Mercury In both Greek and Roman mythology, Hermes/Mercury is known as the fastest of all gods and therefore wears a winged hat and winged shoes. Zeus was his father and Maia (daughter of Atlas) was his mother. He carries the Caduceus, a short staff entwined by two serpents, sometimes surmounted by wings. Hermes/Mercury is Zeus' messenger, God of Commerce and Market, God of Thieves, and also the guide of the dead. I know the Dime is really not depicting the god Mercury. But we know why it is called that. This morning I did a quick 3 hour Metal Detecting hunt at my local park. I went to the same area I found a 1950 Silver Washington last Sunday. There I found a 1942 Winged Liberty Head Dime. The rest. 5 Wheat Cents on the bottom row. Peace
