I just found two 1928 Peace Silver Dollars. They are in excellent condition. I just got interested in coins.
Can you post some pictures? Or do you know what grade they are in? And if they have a mint mark? The 1928 with no mint mark (which means it was minted in Philly) is a fairly valuable coin, but it all depends on what grade it is in. The 1928-S (San Francisco mint) is usually worth less, but again it all depends on grade. A 1928 Peace dollar could be worth anywhere from $20 to several thousand depending upon its condition (grade) and mint.
I do not think they have a mint mark. It looks like a small scratch in the area of the mint. It took it to a coin shop and the owner was not in. However the person working looked at them for minutes and could not find a mint mark. He thought they were in great condition. He suggest I come back. I'm going to try several places that deal in coins.
Boxes of coins I was moving my mother and came across boxes of coins. They were in her family. I started with the silver dollars. (85 total - 20 Morgans - 25 Liberty - the rest Eisenhower. I know nothing about coins. I purchased a book and started organizing. I have numerous old half dollars dating back as 1898. Several others coins are very interesting. I have two 1774 Georgivs/Britannia half pennies. You can make out the date and some of the letters. The face is very smooth on both side. Old but interesting.:smile

Sounds like a story...I'd like to hear it and see some coin photos. Those may be some collectible coins you've got there, oscar. Bruce
Oscar the first thing you need to do is put down that box with the coins in it and get out the box with the camera in it.
Right after the Steelers win the Superbowl, I going to try and take pictures. I did visit a coin store. The owner said the 1928 Peace Dollars are in good shape. No mintmarts!
Peace dollars - pictures I'm trying to post pictures of my 1928 Peace Dollars. This is my first try. I will try to post several other pictures.
Not bad for a first try, but it will need to be alot better for someone to grade your coins and tell you approximately what they're worth. Try taking a picture of one at a time, and get closer so the coin itself takes up most of the pic. And we'll need pics of both sides of each coin.
Thats a little better. Too much glare though. And probably needs to be a little more close up. How bout a pic of the reverse?
