Victor_Clark all my best friends are dead Romans Dealer

This is a nice example of a Constans FEL TEMP (RIC VIII Siscia 211) but something is not right.

Hahah he’s missing his spear! Looks more like he’s doing a funky dance move now

Without his spear, it looks like his forearm is being bent in a way it wasn't ever meant to be.

Martial arts. He knocked the horse over with his fist and feet, and now he's about to spring onto the horseman.

I love that. The Roman army was so badass that they beat the barbarians... with their bare hands!

Reminds me of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson delivering the "People's Elbow" to all those Jabronis.

PS - I know almost nothing about WWE wrestling so I hope I got this right.

It looks like the coin's had a bit of work done to and maybe the spear was polished off accidentally.

Excellent photo by the way. Perfect lighting and exposure!

Yeah, those Romans knew how to fight.
But its nothing compared to how the hoplites from Aspendos held their spears: turns out they used to hold them in their right hand, then went behind their legs and made them came out on the left. Must have surprised many enemies that way... aspendos hoplite.jpg

Ummm...I'm no genius, but I think that it is a terrible way to fight...

I think you're right about what must have happened. If you zoom in as much as possible and look carefully, you can still see the outline of the spear.

Or it could be just a representation of ancient break dancing, the barbarian is performing and the Roman is just waiting for his turn

I think that there is something missing here. Who can tell me what?

I think the die engraver needs to go back and learn how to spell...

I think this engraver made the same mistake as my coin above.

Very interesting OP coin and reminds me of Gladiator with those elbow slams by Maximus. Bare hands it was I guess.

I can just hear Victory saying "where's my palm?"

I'm less inclined to call it an error when it is quite possible that Victory tossed it away because she needed both hands to control that unruly wreath.

But why couldn't they spell VICTORIA?
