How do you collect them? Do you collect both the position A & B types (edge writing facing up or down) or do you collect just one from each mint regardless of the edge writing?

Yes I collect them. I collect by date and mintmark. I really hated it when they put the date and mintmark on the edge of the Presidential dollars.

I haven't started collecting these, but I am thinking about starting a presidential coin collection for my kids.

I collect the proof coins and then get one from a bank roll to put in my album - then go spend the rest :).
I like the edge lettering.. looks cool and it's different.

The new "indian" dollars are still sacs. You get them by buying the annual unc or proof set.

I buy the "A" and "B" types of both P & D mints. BTW, do proofs have the edge lettering both ways, or only one way?

man i hate what the mint is doing to my OCD with the satin coins... it used to be easy to collect P&D, just break up a mint set!
now i need to go find my "p" coins from other sources. gargh!

In my case i have an album of presidential $ P&D that is business strike.
A second set of albums that are P&D plus Proofs, those albums get the satin finish (and proofs)

Right now I'm only collecting each design, because the brilliant minds at Whitman decided to make an album like that. I should have looked closer before I bought. On top of that it's made in China. How disappointing.

I have a few whitman folders... but one word to you; Dansco. 100% U.S.A. and much nicer IMO

I have Dansco for both the Prez's and the Sacs. I order extra Mint sets and proof sets to fill the holes in my Danscos. I also buy the FDI's for the Prezs, slabbed.

Thank you! I feel all the economic stimulous bills in the world won't do a thing to improve our economy if nobody buys American goods. Here's where I start!
P.S: Did you know you can buy an American flag made in China? There really ought to be a law...
