Can't make out the cent pics. Yes that is a American Silver Eagle. As for the dime - hard to say for sure based on the pics but it looks like what is called finning. When a coin is struck with a bit of extra pressure or the planchet is a bit thick - sometimes extra metal pushes up in the collar leaving a thin fin around the coin. The quarter you pictured appears to be a laminated planchet.
exactally what is a laminated planchet if you dont mind me asking ,,, and any idea what these can be worth ,, the cent is a 1943 silver colored cent wheat penny
A laminated planchet is when part of the clad layer peels away from the copper core. It's a neat error The cent is normal - they were struck in zinc coated steel. As for values - no way to say really without better pics to judge the condition of the coins. The silver eagle is worth about $10. The errors might be worth a few dollars each.
well ty for your responce,,,, the silver eagle and the cent piece are proof coins i paid too much for the silver eagle i bid up to 22.00 for it, oops!!!!,,,as for the others ,, i like the coins better then to give them away for a few bucks ,they must be rare errors ive searched this thread and others and havent seen or heard of one like them ,,,,, cool find i think,, thanks
wel i hope it will be worth the 22.00 bucks i spent on it ,,but hey when i saw this coin it looked like a million dollars to me ,,, very beautiful coin
There were no Proof cents made in 1943 - are you confusing uncirculated and Proof in regard to the coin's condition perhaps ? The silver eagle is not a Proof either - the Proof versions have mirror like fields. The one in your pic does not. As for the errors - they are not really uncommon. But you don't find them every day either. I agree - they are cool finds
your right on the 43 cent being a non circulated coin, but then again im not sure of the differance of that either ,if its from the mint it surely isnt circulated right,,,,lol,,, im really a rookie at this ive save all kinds of coins since i was a kid ,i just dont know all the terms and stuff ,im learning alot in this forum seems ya need a degree to keep up sometimes ,lol, but as far as the eagle when i purchased it it was presented as a proof ,, as far as mirrored im not sure what that is i can say this i can see my face in the coin if that means anything its a brilliant design almost a crome like finish
It's possible it's a Proof - hard to say for sure based on the pics. The best way I can describe it is like I did - the fields will be just like a mirror. If you can see your face in the coin as clearly as you can when looking in a mirror - then it is a Proof. And if it is - yes it is worth the $22.
thanks GDJMSP, i used to collect stamps i thought they were a hard thing to keep up with ,,, coins seem a little more in depth to me ,lol,if anything i ever get out of this stuff it surely is educational,,, and bye the way thanks for posting those sites in other folks questions they help me out alot,
