I figure it already shows "attempted" cleaning on the back (scrape marks in the verdi) and a full conservation should eliminate most of those :D if not i lose nothing since I don't plan on selling it on lol

Do it and let us see the results. Check for which variety it is. You may have the rare one. A great coin to have.

Looking at the thickness of the Verdigris and knowing what VC can do... Yes "Most" if not all.. but it might take more then an overnight soak lol

yeah but it wasn't easy let me tell you.. the big issue being it's a 1786, not a 1787 it's a maris 24-p a "common" pairing on a not so common coin :D

It's really good that you are able to identify the Maris number. I discovered that when I sent my 1787 to NGC for conservation and grading they did not and will not include the Maris number on the label. I don't know why but they wouldn't do it even though I paid for 'variety' on the submission form. So don't waste your money if you plan on going that route.

Looking forward to how it comes out. I have a couple with similar hard black crust. Not sure if it is corrosion or some foreign substance, but acetone won't touch it.
