Dave you're right , even though I have no intention of selling it , who knows what others will do in the future , plus I never had to think like a businessman before . rzage:smile:hatch::hammer:
I just received my sample slab. Nice holder, altho it is the same as the old company, with a different label. The only question is how the market will accept DLRC as a grader. And how the market will value the coins. One thing for sure, they will probably be #1 with Barber coins. I wish them luck.
Definitely NOT the same old company. The only similarity between the PCI and DGS is the plastic shell. We don't share a single common employee, grader, or even the same software. Nothing is the same. DGS is a fresh start! I think (yes, I'm biased) that the market will really appreciate these coins. Folks at the ANA were very favorable. -John
John: I wish you the best of luck. And, yes, I do like the 'look' of your slabs. Now to get those dummies at eBay to accept your slabs. For that: I can only wish you a giant 'good luck'!
Who on this board has a direct contact with the right folks at eBay? We rarely auction items on ebay anymore, so I dont have a good contact. Plus, I have found that you need to know "the category manager". Thanks in advance if you can help. -John
Best to send sample slab requests directly to: service@dominiongrading.com Thomas Scott will gladly assist you in a timely manner.
well your pst is going to get edited no adv here except the open forum and i am sure u dont want ur email and phone blasted all over the net. John F also stops by once in a while
Why is it I still don't see any DGS-graded/slabbed coins on eBay? Or am I mistaken? Or is the fix still in?
Because of the rule that only selected TPGs can be mentioned in EBay listings? Like most of their so-called anti-fraud measures, it accomplishes nothing, treating frauds like SGS and legitimate newcomers or second tier graders alike.
From what I understand David Lawrence Coins has some pretty respectable "track" and this is the grading service that sprang from that. These guys and gals aren't exactly upstarts in the area of numismatics in general and coin-grading in particular. I think the fact that they still can't get in may be a sign that market's being fixed. Especially considering any fool can list his or her coins "raw," there (...i.e., where's the cry to protect the public from fraud when that happens?).
Well good for eBay, protecting the coin-buying public like that. Not that the big three third-party grading services mind that any, I'm sure. After all, it does serve to protect their market shares. But then, I'm sure that's strictly coincidental. Seriously, I wonder how DGS feels about being shut out of the "free market," as such. Personally, I don't think I'd like that a lot...
Isn't that against free speech or something , saying who can list and who can't , or at least against anti monopoly laws or something . rzage:whistle:
Not at all, ebay is a private enterprise and can make whatever rules they want. And you need to remember that the reason these rules came about was to do away with all the decptive advertising being done the likes of SGS, NTC and the like. DGS hasn't been around long enough to prove themselves yet. Once they do, I gotta hunch they will be permitted as well.
No it isn't. There is also the free right of association. Ebay can make any rules they want within reason as they see fit for their enterprise. You have no more free speach rights on ebay then my kids do at the dinner table. As for anti-monopolistic....please... see Microsoft vrs the Department of Justice...the RIAA and thats for starts. Ruben
Thanks for the support here on the thread. You are correct in perceiving that eBay has somewhat arbitrarily banned any coin grading service from being listed in the headline, unless it is PCGS, NGC, ANACS or ICG. I completely understand why this happened...the proliferation of illegitimate grading services, etc but it's impossible at this time to find any application process at eBay as to what criteria we need to meet for acceptance. I do believe that we will gain accreditation over time, simply because we are committed to quality and backing up our product with consistency, guarantees, market-making and innovation (like AuthentiView Pop Report, etc.). In the meantime, we have developed a robust auction site and DGS coins have sold extremely well. Tonight, for example, we have a collection of about 350 DGS coins -- 100% of which are selling, and getting very strong bids. I do greatly appreciate the insights and support of Board membres here. I think you guys have a keen insight into what's going on and we're going to continue. Slow and steady is fine with me. -John
