Hi everybody. I just was wondering what coin type collection I should start next. I am almost done with my sac and sba collection, still working on my Ikes though. Anywhays my budget is about (40$-60$) a month so something not incredibly expensive that I can get in BU.

    What do you like?

You can pick up Roosevelt dimes in BU condition, or Lincoln Cent Memorials. Always collect what you like...it is more fun that way.

Have you collected the proof SAC's or SBA's? Proofs will always be revered because there is something about proof coins over MS business strikes. The strike, the mirror finish the cameo appearance all adds up to coins at their best!

Jefferson Nickels are another option as most years still can be found in bank rolls. You always hear about a collector finding a War-time nickel in a bank roll from time to time.

Last but not least, look at Kennedy's. A MS63 set looks nice and these larger coins always look great with the bigger fields and all.

Im thinking about the kennedy halves or mabey the dimes. Their all relitively cheap in MS grades, and yes I do collect the proofs for the SBA and SAC except for the type II which im still working on.

JFKs, they stopped circulated mintage i think around 2002. There is the accented hair variety, matte proof (expensive), 70-D, SMS, proofs and silver proofs (semi-expensive). Its harder than you think to put a set together. Im still working at it. Possible to find nice examples in bank roles. I house mine in a intercept shield album.

Another affordable set to start might be an eisenhower.

Keepin in line with your dollar coin collection, you could start The PEACE Dollars. There are a fair amount of them you can get in BU for $40-$60. At least to start the collection

My two cents... a Jefferson Nickel set.

You can't go wrong collecting what you enjoy.

If you do go for the Kennedy set (or any of the inexpensive clad sets), then it's a good idea to try to get these in as nice of condition as you can for the money. If you pick through dealers stock and mint sets you will find some nicer coins. Your entire set can be MS-63 and even much higher with a little effort and very little extra money.

I would do what you enjoy. However, if you want to get an extensive collection without the big bucks, go for the Jefferson Nickel collection.

Also, late commems canbe a lot of fun. So can early commens, but they get pricey.

I like cdcda's suggestion about Jefferson nickels.
A good start would be the eleven coin silver war nickel set issued
between 1942-1945. These should be available in MS66 slabbed
by either NGC or PCGS at $20 - $30 depending on the date and
mint. BU raw issues would be considerably less.

I'll ditto speedy's Frankie nod. It is a doable size series (29 coins) and given your budget, you can buy 1-4 nice MS examples/mo- finish set in a year. They're a nice collector size coin, silver, and there are tons of folks with good advice and details on the internet as to which years are well struck, etc.

I would say Fanklins/Roosevelts/Jeffersons. All are affordable in MS grades and very nice to look at. :D - James
