Trust me, this was harder than you expected. The last two key dates of the 2 kopek series are 1964 and 1966 which I had to fight harder than I desired.

Here are the rest of the coins. I have upgraded a few of them. There are some coins that I still have trouble finding but I have them in mint sets - let's just say I have the entire set of the 2 kopek covered. :)

Some denomination struck in 1965,66, 70-72 and 76 are just notoriously difficult to find in reasonable price. The 1970 5 kopek is a killer as I have never seen them gone any cheaper than 150 euros.

Oops, forgot to add the link: http://www.gxseries.com/numis/rus_new_type/1961_1992.htm#2k

    Enjoy!

That reminds me, sometime I need to look through my bag of change that I kept from my USSR trip - I know there are some coins dated in the 1960's and 1970's in there.

scottishmoney, can you tell me why 50 kopek and 1 ruble coins are just too difficult to find? Were the value of them so high that they just didn't circulate very often?

I never saw 1 ruble coins in circulation, the 50 kopeks did circulate, but they were about as common as a Kennedy half in circulation now. So they were obtainable, but not always. But also by the time I was in the USSR, the country was on it's last legs - the ruble had dropped dramatically in value, and inflation was on the horizon. Coins were useless in only a few weeks, since they had no purchasing value.

Those are in great condition for kopeks from the 60's. Most of mine from that period are all rusty and look terrible.

GX, I will dig mine out when I get back from Ukraine - I have to add to my Ukraine pile again, I have a good sized bag of coins from there - I save everything I can get in change, the saved coins from overseas are all in bags and stashed.

Will let you know what I find, but I do remember some 1962 dated coins, because I remember when I got them in change I thought of the Cuban Missile Crisis was that year.

I have to say, that's some hot tourist destination these days. ;)

You know what Scottishmoney, it happens that 1962 is a key date of the 3 kopek series. You might be lucky :)

Well done! I still lack some of the 2 kopeck coins, but only a few days ago got the final missing 10 kopeck coin 1961-1991 (regular 1967 - it was harder to get than the "key dates" 1965 and 1966) for my date set :)

Luckily there's still a lot of varieties in that series too to keep me busy for years.

    Whoa!

I am still having trouble finding 1965 and 1966 - got the 1967 as a mint set. By the way Tane, do you have the rare 1990 (M) and the 1991 no mintmark 10 kopek? Those two are just impossible to find.
