looks to me to be the star of david with the "chai" inside. chai i believe is hebrew for life. happy hunting, michael

That is a curious mark to find on a Lincoln cent. I wonder when and where that was done. If I recall correctly you can find that same mark on Mausers and other firearms from about the same time period that were used by the IDF.
The mark seems as worn as the coin so I believe it was probably stamped on around the time the coin was minted(or saved for a while anyway) We'll never know.
is the stamp raised or incused? at first it looked like all the other stamps i have seen, but the more i look at it, it looks raised. not that it matters, i am just curious. thanks, michael
It is Incused. Now that I look at the photo I can see why you might think it is raised. You can't tell from the back of the coin that there is anything pressed into the front.
