New to collecting and cointalk. Found this coin roll searching. I'm guessing it's called a cud error but wanted other opinions. Is this type of error common?

:)Nice, susprised that lincoln wasn't saved befor now. that is a large cud and you can find them listed on ebay. So yes it's a keeper. Smaller ones are what you find in roll searching. Great start on error collecting.Oh by the way welcome to the forum.

You have a double error there! that is indeed a cud, and a nice one at that. Look to the left of Lincoln's head above liberty. What you see there is a die clash. The image is the lincoln memorial that is on the reverse. Very Nice!

This is one where I would wonder how long after the dies clashed, did that piece break out creating that CUD on the next coins struck.

    That's a GREAT coin!

    Have Fun,

I'm sure they're related. The clash most likely caused the die break. Like you suggested.
