I am curious about what caused the contrasting images on this dime. The center images are fairly crisp (taking into account that it has been in circulation), while the outer images are greatly weaker. I would assume chemical damage would have affected both faces completely. Likewise I would believe that casual damage from use would also across the obverse and reverse. But it seems to be restricted to the entire outer rim areas? I know there’s a reason I don’t recognize or know about, so what might it be?
Well I have no idea how these pictures of an antique button and a Smokey Bear token joined the appropriate pictures but enjoy them too
