I don't know. I've been saving up for a half disme for years, and the opportunity's at my door step. I just don't know. That's why I asked.

    I have a credo I live by :

"Never pay $12,000 for a coin to be used as target practice."

I've yet to receive a good answer. Is it worth the price? I've got the money, but is it worth it?

HAHA. Do you really think this coin was shot? I just Don't know what to do. Part of me really wants this coin, but part of me says never to buy a problem coin for over 10,000.

If you can prove those holes were shot by Wyatt Earp and Billy the Kid, it might be of great historical value.

Hey ! One of your coins could wind up in the Smithsonian ! I say go for it. :D

    OK, I've decided.

Yes, I think this coin was shot. I'm basing that opinion on the bullet hole exit wounds on the obverse.

So to sum up: should I wait for a nicer example?

No, you should buy it immediately. Afterall, the bullet hole makes it distinctive!

That must have been an interesting gun. That hole is about 0.05" (the size of pencil lead) in diameter. I am not a gun expert, but what kind of gun shots that kind of ammo?

    Pedigree markers. Subtle, yet unmistakable.

Some people would have you believe those are scratches on the reverse. Not so.

That's the signature of the man who signed his name simply "X".
