So I had an earlier post regarding Littleton and Ebay. What I learned so far is that Littleton can be too expensive and Ebay can be a "shark tank" for someone new like me. I have searched the posts for reputable dealers and just dealers etc. but it's not really getting me the answers I wanted. So I will just ask the question here: Where have you had good success purchasing coins online other than the two listed above? Reasonable shipping, fast and curtious, accurate grading, no cleaning, affordable etc. I have narrowed my interests to mostly wheat pennies, wartime nickels. I want to get into one more area of coin collecting I just haven't found it yet.:mouth: I realize now after starting that I will probably never get the 1909 s vdb and a few others. (seems I'm short about $1k lol). So any replies to this will be appreciated. PS. Is it safe to assume that the state quarters and presidential dollars are going to be very abundant and not so collectable? It just seems to me that everyone has jumped on that bandwagon of collecting because they are easy and inexpensive to collect? (nothing is wrong with that btw, because I don't have much money either) I guess what I would like to know is if there are any areas of collecting left that could one day be profitable yet not completely saturated or really expensive to complete a "full set"? I guess for starters I will work on the 1950 wheat pennies that are missing from my collection. (I have a really good start I would say from 1909 to 2008.) All are ciculated though.. 1950-S 1951-S 1952-S 1953-S 1954 1954-D 1955-S I only plan on spending around $20.00 at a time for things I order and if that is only enough for one of these, then I would trust the opinions of anyone here. I just don't know or feel comfortable spending that much for one coin on the sights listed above. Again, I dont need proofs or anything special, but a legible date, I would guess in the good category, is fine with me. Basically just honest opinions from people that have been in the biz for awhile that I can learn to trust. Thanks for the replies. Coin Shows or clubs I don't know where you are but coin shows and clubs offer a way to really get to know coins, look over many, and buy with no shipping. Or else get you a few copies of Numismatic News and Coin World and study those but my advice is to skip most of the ones in the front that always have full page ads except for maybe L&C and a few others. Also get you some books, perhaps a Red Book and read the magazines for awhile before you start buying - study the many posts on here for a few weeks first. When you see an ad that appears a little "to good to be true", well, in coins it means run don't walk away from that ad as fast as you can! Hope this helps, Ben Peters
