I just recently picked up a Dino Lite USB microscope to do some coin pics. I was playing with it tonight and took the following of a 1945 Liberty Walking Half Dollar. I know I need to adjust the lighting a bit....let me know what you think.....also can anyone give me an idea on what the grade might be. I need to work on coins not in the holders, having issues with things being too bright:

    Yeah, I'm gonna go AU-55.

    It's a nice coin.

You can tell it's AU (as opposed to BU) because of the slight flattening on the eagle's breast.

    nice pics

Hey: What model of the dino lite did you get?

I have been looking at them but have not made the final decision so any input you have on likes and dislikes would be appreciated.

    Also Nice coin Au 55

I bought the AM-311S under a deal that microscopes.com had that included a stand for not much more over cost. I have just started playing with it and will need to figure out a lot with it. Seems that I can get things sorta right with a coin in a 2x2 (probably due to the light that bounces off the white holder) but need to figure out how to handle coins not in holders. I will get it right.

I had issues installing the driver on a box running Vista, but finally got it installed. I will follow up with you on this after I play with it a lot more. If you want I can let you know cost for it thru that vendor, PM me....

    Hey man,

How can you tell that it is flattening and not a weak strike?

For one, it has the typical circular appearance of wear (not that a weak strike can't cause that.)

Also, there are other areas that are showing wear. For instance, look at the top of the eagle's left wing (to your right), just below "OF AMERICA."

If there is any wear on that coin I sure can't see it. I'd say it's a solid 64.

It also looks to have a nice die crack from the ray at the foot of the L up to the rim by the I in Liberty.
