And get all the collectors that bought them at a premium a few days before mad at them? Would not be a smart move. they get enough negative press as it is now. Why ask for more?
the mint open up saturday and sunday shipment during holiday session. a good job. so that people can receive the orders in time for christmas or as a gift to others. i received all my five orders. my suggestions to the mint: always keep shipment on time. add more qualify personnel. preserve highest quality of all collector's items. lowering the prices. specially precious metal went down. produce fewer new products each year. give special discount to bulk order - collectors. sell extra boxes, case, capsule and c.o.a. for all future products as replacement. reduce maximum mintage if necessary. discontinue the shipping charge. announce mintage and sales figure daily. upgrade and modernize the mint website. reduce the size and weight of dollar coin. put back the date and mint mark on the reverse or obverse on the dollar coin. promote coin products globally. open up stores in all big city around the world. produce one commemorative each year. for half dollar, using silver is better.
my strong message to the mint: close out all 2008 and dated before on december 31. and start everything for 2009 products.
mint should sell boxes like those of 2008 buffaloes gold proof series and buffaloes gold unc series on its online store. so far these boxes are the best. except the 8-8-08 prosperity box which is too good. i hope the mint will continue to use those boxes for american eagle gold and platinum series. i also hope the mint will improve the clad and silver proof set case. to prevent from being tone. also change the mint uncirculated set see-through cover to clad proof set case.
why is the van buren one dollar coin not offer at cost directly from the mint?. instead the mint jump and offer the 2009 sac dollar at cost.......
u.s. mint should reduce its prices on the new price list chart for gold and platinum coins. it is overcharge too much. few people will buy them.
the u.s.mint should offer more different nice boxes directly to the public at a fair price. i specially like the buffalo proof eagle box. then followed by the prosperity set box. lastly of course the less expensive buffalo unc box.
You should put in for a job with the US mint Elaine. You may be more knowledgeable then they are. How high are the US mints mark ups over spot price for 1 ounce gold buffalo's? Does the mint change their prices as the price of gold changes?
check the price chart issued from the mint. it will be based on average london gold price within a week. start thursday and end wednesday. the mint will produce 2009 buffalo only in one ounce.
the mint pricing is somewhat wrong. take today example. gold is $857.40, and platinum is $934.00. by checking at the mint price chart. gold is more expensive than platinum. look at the prices below. platinum unc one ounce - 1,085.00 platinum proof one ounce - 1,092.00 eagle unc one ounce - 1,128.00 eagle proof one ounce - 1,135.00 buffalo unc one ounce - 1,158.00 buffalo proof one ounce - 1,160.00 note: 1. proof prices are more attractive than unc. 2. the fractional coins gap between platinum and gold is so wild. gold crushed platinum. 3. the mint personnel who did this chart should be fire.
In the Jan. 6,2009 Federal Register the US Mint published the price ranges for what platinum coins would cost. The range varies from $550 to $2,149.99 This chart also list the breakdown for costs - Price of platinum - 71%-74% Cost to manufacure - 11%-14% Margin - 15% What that tells you is that the platinum coins will cost from 26% to 29% more than the spot price they purchase the metal at.
the mint should stop selling and producing 2008 american eagle unc gold series. and concentrate on 2009 gold products.
