So these are for non-goodacre coins or are we still specifically talking about the 5000 goldacre coins?
Well, now I'm completely confused. the first articles I read seemed to indicate those were post mint burnished and then you posted an article that said that information was wrong and now we are talking about them being unburnished altogether. I have to back and reread everything. Ruben
Of course if they have missed the bunishing they should be a dull ugly gray color because they would still have the layer of oxides on them from the annealing furnace. Of course the oxides could be removed by the post mint "cleaning" the Goodacre coins received, but I would still expect them to have a very "dead" appearance.
And they didn't. The cleaning used and the burnishing are 2 different things. And I agree with Conder, the unburnished examples probably do look "dead".
