I would appreciate some help with the characters on this charm which I got (from USA) with a mixed lot of Qing coins. It looks old, and is well produced. No idea if it's ancient or modern, but I like it anyway.

No....it's a charm or amulet for good luck, NOT a coin.

The legend is identical on both sides.

    ls8driver,

The inscription consists of four pairs of Chinese characters with the following meaning:
    1. "duo nan" meaning (may you have) many boys (sons)
    2. "shou fu" meaning (may you have) a long life and happiness
    3. "kang ning" meaning (may you have) health and composure
    4. "fu gui" meaning (may you have) wealth and honor

The inscription is the same on both sides.

Judging from the picture, I would say the charm is not old.

    Thanks Manymore.

I had managed to figure out the characters, and arrived at a translation close to yours, but not as elegant.
