My wife recently bought me the cherrypicker books and tonight I was going thru my mercs and found 3 1943-S's that look different than the rest. On these the S's run completely parallel with the sticks and are not cocked at the angle as the rest. Does anyone have any ideas? Will try and post pics if needed and when I have time. Even had to have the wife verify that I was not seeing things. haha
Since at the time mint marks were hand punched into the dies, it's feasible that you are going to see slight variations in mm positioning.
WHat BQ said. Also, with a Mintage of over 60 Million, there must have been over 200 dies used for these coins.
