Don't buy a problem coin. Trust me it will haunt you later. Better off with a worn coin than one that is corroded or cleaned.
What I meant is that no one on Coin Talk would outbid you. Apparently you didn't read the half dozen or so posts above.
I've read them all, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think the coin is beautiful, and someone else here may feel the same way, and out bid me. I request they do not. Thank you very much.
Actually you will need the luck when the day comes to sell it. You bid a lot of money for a problem coin. I hope you are still happy with it in the future. If so, that's all that matters. Most that have been in this great hobby for many years look back on this type of purchase and regret them. Wish you the best.
I understand that problem coins are undesirable, but it's a key date. I don't feel like my bid was overly high.
After looking at the auction it looks with being associated with ebay for five years and having over 7000 individual feedbacks this could be a good place to look. I have a question though since I'm always looking for Repretable sellers. Here goes: Have you done business with this seller and if so were you satisfied?
IMHO, it is way to high because those coins don't hold that value. They are very hard to move. You say that you don't sell coins, but in several years you may find (as I did) that you really don't want problem coins in your collection. So, you buy replacement problem free examples and try to sell the problems. Trouble is, the problem coins are really hard to move. They aren't worth it IMHO. I would buy a nice problem free example, they can be easily found for the price cap you have set.
Anywhere!!! You may find a cheap coin virtually anywhere, everybody has them. They are not rare or even remotly desirable. Nobody I know wants one and there is "no price too small to pay for a problem coin", (not my quote) but I love it. Ben
I'm not a dealer either but see every purchase as an investment toward my collection. After over forty years at this great hobby I look back at very few problem coin purchases that turned out to be a good deal. Many true collectors sell off coins to raise funds to purchase other coins but problem coins can be tough to sell. Just the thoughts of an older collector. Take it or leave it.
