I should also mention that it was in the newer yellow anacs holder, if that would sway any of your opinions on how they graded it.
Ok, here it is! I mention the "yellow" slab, because my experience has been that they are slightly stricter with there grading in these slabs. I would have guessed a 58 in hand.
The slab picture was a lot better than the crack out photos. I believe the color balance was of on your camera making the coin look gold and hiding the defects.
Nice coin - I like it. Not sure I see the wear that this grade includes - I have seen soft shields with MS grades. I can only assume there is a break in the luster that I did not see before. Very nice coin!
thanks! I am very pleased with it. The only area on the coin that appears to lack luster is the circle between the "5" and the stars on the reverse. I think some kind of rubbing occurred there. The obverse looks full on MS to me and I see no luster breaks.
The similarities between a new member and a recently-banned member are too obvious to ignore. Both : use(d) the same avatar list(ed) his birthday as March 29 enjoy(ed) stirring things up with other members by making provocative posts (e.g., "VG details harshly cleaned" for an AU or MS coin).
Hello, I have spoken to one of the moderators here called speedy. He pointed out that I joined under the same IP address as a user who joined here multiple times, Isaiah, Isshii, and Counterfeit. I joined at a public place. That is the answer to one concern. To answer your first concern, I looked up all of the users mentioned in speedy's message. I could find nothing on isshii, but counterfeit, and Isaiah was easy enough. From what I can see in Isaiah's small picture next to his visitor message to himself, it's some kind of a slabbed dollar. Counterfeit had no avatar. How did you draw a reasonable conclusion based on these innaccurate facts? That is a little odd about the birthday though. And lastly my posts were not provacative. one of the users private messaged me asking about that and I told him that I developed my own version of ANAs standards. ~Lafayette
It's absolutely plausible that multiple people on a public computer with the same IP could all of a sudden join this forum and act in basically the same way. And I could get a 1916 SLQ in my change tomorrow. A blazing MS68 one with an ultimate full head. And both scenarios are about as likely. I'm of the opinion that Peter and Doug aren't used to dealing with trolls as this seems to be a relatively pleasant forum. I am used to dealing with trolls. You are a troll, nobody thinks you're clever, rather, the forum seems to view you as a digital buzzing mosquito.
We sure do get some interesting grading on this board. It's an MS-63 RD coin - you guys have lost it. This is exactly the way a "made for commerce" small denomination coin from that era was made. I sure would like to buy some coins from the guy who says VF. If he has any mint state coins they must MS-71. Either that or he had a rough night????? Or, Is it no wonder the joke of third party grading has perpetuated this long, give us a break and let people learn to grade again Ben Peters
The facts speak for themselves. It is the job of the moderators to enforce forum rules. I am simply a member here making observations.
Forget the RD Forget the RD designation - I've lost my mind this am, (normal for me) but still say MS-63 or I will buy a truck load of these if they all look like this one at VF prices - I will borrow money to buy them like that, I will mortage the house, sell my wife or stand in the middle of I-75 to buy coins that look like this at VF prices. Ben
LOL. Well, I agree that ANACS undergraded this somewhat at AU-55. From what I've seen, the yellow slabbed ANACS coins are often a tad undergraded compared to the older blue and white slabbed coins. However, the prices still seem about the same. I've been looking at a lot of them lately, and it seems like a good way to get a better bang for your buck.
