Yeah i got the one AirborneReams had up on eb.. Gonna give it the VC treatment once in hand.. I think this one will turn out fantastic
I figure it already shows "attempted" cleaning on the back (scrape marks in the verdi) and a full conservation should eliminate most of those if not i lose nothing since I don't plan on selling it on lol
Did you identify the Maris variety? Even though your coin is in rough shape it might be a rare variety which could add value. You can look through the Maris listings here. https://coins.nd.edu/ColCoin/ColCoinContents/DieCharts.html#NJdies Good Luck
Do it and let us see the results. Check for which variety it is. You may have the rare one. A great coin to have.
Looking at the thickness of the Verdigris and knowing what VC can do... Yes "Most" if not all.. but it might take more then an overnight soak lol
yeah but it wasn't easy let me tell you.. the big issue being it's a 1786, not a 1787 it's a maris 24-p a "common" pairing on a not so common coin
It's really good that you are able to identify the Maris number. I discovered that when I sent my 1787 to NGC for conservation and grading they did not and will not include the Maris number on the label. I don't know why but they wouldn't do it even though I paid for 'variety' on the submission form. So don't waste your money if you plan on going that route. Joe
Looking forward to how it comes out. I have a couple with similar hard black crust. Not sure if it is corrosion or some foreign substance, but acetone won't touch it.
