Depends on the integrity and honesty of the seller... some will offer a partial refund, others will want the coin returned, and some will ignore your request and simply state "all sales are final". I've encountered all three. Nowadays I buy most of my coins from my local shop, where I know the seller and know his policies.

If I may... you don't want that coin at any price IMO. Common date coin with problems? Pass.

If you want a 20-S, nice ones are out there. I have a couple of nice circ ones that I have picked up for about $25 each. If you just want a nice SLQ, a nice common date post-1925 coin can be picked up in strong VF/XF for $20-30.

Return the coin, period.

Garrett, this is just my opinion. The coin is a 1929 S SLQ that has been polished. As for the toning I'm not sure but I will say that's about a $5 dollar coin. If I where you I would reread Lehigh's and rld14 posts again, I think they are giving the best advice.
