If it is like previous years it will include a proof ASE.

It's just like the regular silver proof set . . . but limited.

:D Sorry - could not resist.

As noted, in the past it has had nicer packaging and a proof ASE.

The set itself is usually (always?) a "limited" number, like 50,000, but the coins themselves are no different than other identical coins that the mint sells in other packages, and AFAIK have no mintage limits.

If you have a silver proof set and a proof ASE you have the same thing. This is just put in a different package.

I recall reading somewhere that this year is limited to 50K because of the ASE in the set because it’s an S mint.
I think it was one of many US Mint posts explaining the “error” for the S ASE. Was originally posted as a limit of 200K product and mintage limit. But they admitted to selling more once people were digging into sales figures and the mint then trying to explain their way out...

I believe that the Limited Edition Silver Proof Set generally includes a proof example of all the silver coins made by the mint that year. This would mean the following coins would be included in the set:

    - dime
    - five (5) ATB quarters
    - half dollar
    - silver eagle

Per the US Mint’s price increases, I believe this is supposed to be priced at $201.00 (though they haven’t officially posted the price yet, so I guess it could change).

It’s worth noting that the 2020 silver proof set costs $105.00 and the 2020-S silver eagle costs $73.00 (though it’s currently unavailable). This would add up to $178.00, plus the regular silver proof set would also include the cent, nickel, and Native American dollar (the Limited Edition set excludes these).

So the real question is whether or not the fancier packaging plus the omission of the cent, nickel, and Native American dollar is worth paying an extra $23.00 (assuming the $201.00 price is in fact correct). I would personally err on the side of “no,” but everyone has different factors to consider when making this decision.

This same question comes up every year.

Don't be too quick about that. The mint changes formats so often that the question may be very relative.

I bought two limited sets, the last being 2017. I already have an S ASE, America the Beautiful Silver Proof Set, and the Silver Proof Set for 2020. It was mentioned earlier that they numbered the Limited Silver Sets. Did I read that correctly? My Limited Sets are in my SDB so I can't check it out right now.

I do not believe that is correct.

I believe this is correct. I have been buying the silver proof sets for many years . . . going back to at least 1999, I think. Never once bought the LE set because it seemed like the cost was more than the sum of the parts.

I have all of the Limited Edition Silver Proof Sets 2012-2019 (2015 Set was not released). I will get one 2020 set from the US Mint.

The part where you did not put the () around the S. Which to me is kind of important. But maybe I am missing something here, which would not be the first time. Do they have an S mint mark?

Limited Edition Silver Proof set is all silver coins including a Silver Eagle for that specific year. But only one and the Mint chooses the mint mark on the ASE. The Mint usually sets a product limit on the number made, I don't recall if there is a household limit on ordering.

The "normal" Silver proof set includes the Lincoln cent, Jefferson nickel, and the Sacajawea dollar (they are not silver) and does not include the Eagle. The Kennedy half, Washington quarters, and Roosevelt dime are silver. The Mint doesn't generally place any limits on the number produced or household ordering.

Packaging is different. And as I recall, since 2019 all the silver coins in either set are to be 99% silver.
