I saw this line and thought it was about the U.S. election results. I almost just closed up, but then my curiosity got the better of me and I opened it up. Thanks for all your research and entry. I loved it.
Nice write up Kevin! Aurelian is one of my favourite emperors (hence my profile picture) and is a main focus of my collection as a result (although the affordability of his coins also plays an important role in that!). He achieved a lot in such a short reign and I always feel his murder/assassination was something of a tragedy, although pretty much par for the course for 3rd century emperors. I had never heard about the economic damage of the coinage reform before - that is something I will look into more at some point. Here is my RESTITVT ORBIS example from Serdica with the slightly less common IMP C AVRELIANVS P AVG obverse legend. One day I hope to get a coin with the INVICTVS obverse legend, which are relatively common but can be quite pricey. Apologies for the slightly dark photo
