Good morning, New here. Very novice collector of sorts. Mainly wheat pennies but grab anything that looks interesting. Was looking through a stack of halves yesterday and came across two that looked a bit funny. Either from circulation damage or possible error. Don’t know enough about this stuff. and the second one. Can tell if it’s just solidly worn or what.
The 1982 has 2 issues. A Small collar break.. Aka Collar Cud within the reeding. That occurs when the 3rd Die known as the retaining collar cracks. The issue on the Rim looks like a Misaligned Die Strike. 2002 and 1982 are to years that are known to have the Small Collar Die Breaks The Other Kennedy looks like circulation wear. Maybe some debris strike through around the date. Nothing major for that one.
The context of your question is kinda lost. You have a couple haves in front of you. you are thinking this through but aren't actually asking any specifics of what you think is damage of an error ? I see damage and a slightly misaligned die (MAD) and collar issue which created the slight bulge, unless you can be much more specific on an area of the halves you have questions about.
Thank you. That is some great info. I honestly do not know much about errors at all. And the purpose of of this thread was to maybe gain some insight as to learn how to determine damage VS. actual errors. so thank you for your response and that explanation on what you seen from my photos. I collect register money and so my entire collection has seen circulation.
I don’t know what to ask as I don’t know what I’m looking at other then I see a coin that may or may not have errors
