I love that the last few GTG threads have been toned beauties -- I support this :)

This one (compared to the '51-S currently also going on), seems to have less contact marks hiding under the color. I think this could be MS65.

....I don't see any significant hits but the color seems deep enough to potentially limit the luster, thus I went a step below gem.

I really don't see much contact under the toning. It just isn't blazing with luster like I would expect it too for a higher grade.

I'm not sure if this is your coin, or if you are just using it as an example. But I would guess MS-65 with a shot at 66. The unfortunate thing I have noticed with PCGS TrueViews lately is that they seem to be going heavy with Axial based imaging, which this one is suffering from. The luster of the coin is dead. Therefore it is nearly impossible to guess the exact grade without knowing how strong the luster is.

Also, I have held back from cheating, as I can read the cert. number through the scribble. LOL ;)

This coin is tough to grade. The surfaces look very clean and are definitely premium gem, and I would say MS67 level. The problem is that PCGS is very stingy with the MS67 grade unless the coin has commensurate luster. From these photos I don't see that luster. The toning overall is very attractive, especially the blue on the reverse. That said, there are big spots of terminal state toning on obverse that could (and IMO should) negatively affect the grade. In summary, MS67 surfaces, dropped to MS66 for muted luster, dropped to MS65 for the obverse terminal state spotting.

    MS65

It is a 65. I got it because of the really nice reverse toning. The obverse? Eh, not as nice, obviously.
