Won my last coins of the year over the past week. A superb anchor series denarius at Artemide and a rare Antonian fleet coinage "heavy series" As at ROMA. This concludes and odd year in the auction market with prices that have risen a lot. I'm still very happy with my year considering the circumstances. Anonymous. Anchor (first) series. AR Denarius (18.5mm, 4.44 g), c. 209-208 BC. Obverse: Helmeted head of Roma right; behind, X. Reverse: The Dioscuri galloping right; below, anchor; in exergue, ROMA in partial tablet. Reference: Crawford 50/2. Marc Antony and Octavia Æ As (6.69g, 22mm, 11h) of Uncertain Mint, Achaea. Fleet Coinage, heavy series. Circa 38-37 BC. M. Oppius Capito, propraetor and praefectus classis. Obverse: [M ANT IMP TERT COS DESIG ITER ET III VIR RPC], jugate busts of Marc Antony and Octavia right. Reverse: [M OPPIVS CAPITO PRO PR PRAEF CLASS F C], galley right; [A] below. Reference: RPC I 1465.
I think (and hope, because the pocket is emptier and emptier) these would be the last coins of the year. Participated in an auction and wasn't 100% happy with what I won so also got a lot at the end of the auction, although this wasn't in plan. Only have this picture, but I hope I won't be very dissapointed, but I'll certainly have some fun in identifying them (already have a couple of ideas)
