I crave the assistance of experts again. The same chap who has already brought me his Roman and Ptolomeic collections has now left me with his Sasanian coins to identify and possibly buy. There are 11 in all - I am going to do it in 2 threads otherwise it will get too confusing. (I was mildly chastised before for using one thread per coin!) As well as an ID I would appreciate some idea of value so I can make him a fair offer for the lot. If any are fake or repro, that is fine, so long as you let me know! This first batch are all the larger ones - around 30 to 32mm across: One: Two: Three: Four: Five: Six: Seven: Thank you!
2 - Khusro I 1, 3, 5, 6 - Hormizd IV 4, 7 - Khusro II Dates and legends look to be mostly legible - you can probably fully ID here: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/numiswiki/view.asp?key=sasanian mints
That has certainly helped me get a basic identification for each coin. I am struggling to use the link to get a closer identification - I know next to nothing about Sasanian coins and I can't work out where to look for script to identify the monarch, date or mint even before I then try to transliterate into something meaningful to me! Is there a basic "how to get started" guide somewhere?
