So anyway, I found this coin and surely overpaid for it but I thought the strike is great for a New Orleans Morgan

Check this out? How much would you have paid for it? BTW - it is blast white.

OK now the reverse. This coin showed great breast feathers for a O mint mark

I can't seem to photo these Blast white coins well. They always turn Yellow. I remember that we had a Morgan Exhibit in the contest and GD asked right straight away if the color was accurate, because it was a perfect shot of a white Morgan. And the photographer answered that the color was right. Mine always seem to come out yellow.

Anyway, I paid $55 for that one. I'm sure it was too much. At the shop I was looking at it thinking it might be a MS65, but after photographing it I think its more like a MS63+

No really, it looks great. I'd call it an MS63/64 which puts it in that price range. I'd say you did okay.

yup. I think it is better than a MS63. The mark on her cheek is very superficial and barely seeable without really searching for it when in the hand. And for a New Orleans strike, its very good with hair flow lines in the soft spot of the hair and all the feathers on the breast present. And the reverse is very very clean.

I was reluctant about buying this coin and I'll tell you why a little later, but how would you grade it?

It looks like a nice coin. No major hits. A couple of light ones on the obv. It looks light it has been lightly cleaned/dipped ? in the past and is starting to retone. The spots are a little troublesome and are what gives me the hint that it may have been dipped. I'm going to say MS 62/63 with the rev. being higher....................John

I almost passed it up because the mark on the check bone down the back of the face to the jaw in the hand looks more abrasive then it does in the photo, even though it really is a surface mark. I brought it as an AU for $35.00
