Still scouting around for some interesting pieces and a couple of VG Barbara's caught my eye today for a few sheckels. They are pretty nice for an issue that wears nicely...I like the way these coins give a hint of dimension as they wear, almost in a classical sense. This one has a ghostly image of Liberty strongly developed in the center of the design, still with deep and expressive eyes, and lovely tone. Her delicate jaw line is stil plainly visible giving frame and contour to her face. There is a little damage on the dendrites in the lower left of the obverse, but otherwise a fairly clean specimen. On the reverse, the Eagle is nicely spread across the coin, a level above the background with good separation between the wings and the background. Feathers are still visible and the font and lettering still clear and bold. The lettering on the ribbon is faded, but still not gone, giving a great overall affect to the coin. My daughter, when examining this coin for the first time said, "How come we don't have cool coins like this today?"
Hobo is just his normal grumpy jealous self. He knows I always get the most interesting coins and it annoys him to no end.
... um ... yeah. I'm trying to figure out if Brooklyn is using his own personal slang or doesn't know the real name.... I'm hoping for the former. John
