1984 D Lincoln Just curious as to what caused this?

    Not sure what the damage would be classified as. I have an Idea as to what the cause is but a clearer idea is always welcome.

    Plating issue. Known as Zinc Rot when the plating is compromised and the inner zinc is exposed.
